In order to qualify for holiday pay, an eligible employee must work the employee's regular schedule on the day immediately before and after the holiday. Only excused absences, such as approved vacation days, will be considered exceptions. Holiday pay will only be paid for hours and days an employee is normally scheduled to work.
A Personal Day may be issued in some fiscal years as one of the year's approved observed holidays but is not a guaranteed or standard yearly holiday. In years in which a Personal Day is observed, the Personal Day to be taken must be agreed upon between the employee and their supervisor in advance. To be eligible for use of the Personal Day, eligible employees must have completed the first 180 days of their probationary period. For additional information and details on the use of Holiday Pay and/or Personal Days, please refer to the Employee Handbook.
