Through three progressively complex writing-intensive courses, students advance from learning fundamental writing and research principles, writing within a specific discourse community, to synthesizing these skills in their senior project. At each level, writing is treated as an iterative practice, with students refining their work through cycles of drafting, feedback, and revision.
This three-course sequence prepares writers equipped to address varied audiences and adapt their writing practices across professional and academic contexts.
These theme-based courses introduce students to writing and research skills and engage them with real-world problems through project-based approaches. Students select seminars based on their interests and work collaboratively on projects that culminate in a public presentation.
Writing-intensive courses deepen students' understanding of how writing functions within particular disciplines. Students explore disciplinary methods and conventions, learning how their field of study uses writing to develop and communicate knowledge.
The senior seminar allows students to showcase original research and their command of the perspectives, methods, and body of knowledge of their chosen field of study, representing the culmination of their development as writers in their disciplines
