Meet the Scott Peer Health Educators

Tsionawit Desta (Zion)

Tsionawit Desta (she/her) is a first-year Biology major with plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in neurosurgery. She is passionate about the brain and hopes to contribute to the field by not only performing life-changing surgeries but also developing innovative techniques to improve patient outcomes. Before college, Tsionawit volunteered with the Red Cross and at a hospital in Ethiopia, where she gained hands-on experience in healthcare and strengthened her commitment to medicine. As a Peer Health Educator (PHE), she is excited to support her peers, promote well-being, and learn more about health and wellness. She looks forward to applying this knowledge in her future medical career to better serve and care for others. Outside of academics and healthcare, Tsionawit enjoys reading books and watching sports in her free time. 

Atnasya Fanta

Atnasya (she/her) is a first-year international student from Ethiopia, double majoring in Political Science and Business with a concentration in finance. Her dream is to become an Ambassador and extend the family legacy and help her country grow. Atnasya has a strong background working mostly with the United Nations and the African Union. She is involved a lot on campus: the freshman council of the senate, vice president for the Ethiopian club, and part of the MUN here at Whittier College. In her free time, Atnasya likes playing basketball, listening to music, and she is a huge Gracie Abrams fan.

Loren GreyLoren Grey

Loren Grey (she/her) is a third year Integrated Computer Science and Engineering major. She hopes to become a computer engineer in the future. Her primary goal is to help encourage and acknowledge diversity on campus among her peers. She also wants to gain a deeper understanding about health and wellness and apply it to her knowledge of the technical world in a way that can help others. Her past experience includes volunteer work for the Red Cross and the National Honor Society. She has also interned at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Corona. One of her immediate personal goals is to finish her bachelors and then pursue her masters, and possibly doctorate degree. In her free time, some of her personal hobbies include ceramics, playing piano, and going to bakeries.

Sabrina DangSabrina Ha Van Dang

Sabrina (she/her) is a first-year student who completed her first bachelor's in Vietnam majoring in English Linguistics and Literature, then completed language school in Japan. At Whittier College, she is in the process of discovering her academic focus, which is driven by a strong passion for personal growth and wellness. On campus, Sabrina works in the Office of Human Resources and is exploring some of her passions through computer science and graphic design classes. A language enthusiast, Sabrina speaks Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese, and in her free time, she enjoys playing musical instruments and dancing. In her high school days in Vietnam, Sabrina has won several medals in ballet competitions and martial arts competitions.  

Hillary Osuya-Eni 

Hillary (he/him) is a first-year international student from Nigeria majoring in Political Science with a Pre-Law focus. As a Peer Health Educator, Hillary emphasizes the importance of intellectual growth and spiritual wellbeing, encouraging students to seek peace and build a balanced life rooted in faith and knowledge. His goal is to become a cyber lawyer, advocating for people’s rights and helping protect individuals from cyber threats. 

On campus, Hillary works with the Theatre Department and actively engages in various student events, including cultural celebrations, on-campus events, and PHE initiatives. Outside of academics, he enjoys creative writing and storytelling, often exploring themes of justice and friendship. A dedicated fan of DC movies, he especially enjoys The Titans, The Flash, and The Justice League saga. In his spare time, he loves immersing himself in gaming, music, and animated series, always looking for new ways to blend creativity with his passion for law and technology.
