Film Studies Minor

A Film Studies minor requires a minimum of 18 credits.

This includes the required two core courses: FILM 170 and FILM 480, three courses exploring the historical contexts of film from cultural and historic perspectives, and one course engaging film from a practical application, such as Screenwriting, Acting for the Camera, or Video Production.

Students will have opportunities to experience practical aspects of film production, but this minor emphasizes the history of film's narrative structures, its role as a medium of cultural expression, and the theories, methodologies and criticisms within film studies.
