Faculty mentors are permanent members of the faculty that also serve as advisors for first-year students until they are ready to declare a major.
These faculty mentors teach at least one course to first-year students, either INTD 100 (College Writing Seminar) or a course in their discipline of expertise. Mentors reserve time to meet with students each week to discuss issues such as:
- Succeeding academically
- Developing education goals
- Investigating majors
- Planning for careers
- Graduate school
- Internships
- Study abroad
- Meeting graduation requirements
Faculty mentors also refer students to the many services available at Whittier College.
