Following 25 years as an educator for the Whittier Union High School district, Ann Fitzgerald ’93 M’98 has been promoted to the District’s assistant superintendent of personnel services.
Fitzgerald, a Whittier native, began her teaching career at La Serna High School in 1994. She was appointed assistant principal of curriculum and instruction in 2003, and was named principal of the school in 2012. Under her guidance, La Serna has achieved a 96% daily attendance rate and a 98% graduation rate, and more than 70% of its students meet college entrance requirements. Fitzgerald was named the Association of California School Administrators Region 15 Administrator of the Year for her outstanding innovation and leadership in the educational environment.
Fitzgerald will officially step into her new position on July 1, where she will continue to lead Whittier teachers and students on a broader scale.
