Representatives from a variety of schools and programs were present, including Azusa Pacific University, Cal Lutheran University, Chapman University, McGeorge School of Law, Otis College of Art and Design, San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of Southern California, to name a few. “Receiving a graduate degree is a personal decision that is normally related to a student’s career interest,” said Michelle Ponce, director and interim dean at the CCPD. She encourages all students to learn about various programs even if they in their first or second year of college. Most programs require certain undergraduate courses for admittance and students who learn about those requirements early on can make adjustments to their classes, if needed. “Take your time and explore to find the correct program for you,” advises Ponce to students looking at post-graduate programs. “Take a deep dive into the required classes, visit the campus, research, and talk to the faculty before you make a final decision.” Hosting events throughout the year, the CCPD is committed to providing all Whittier students and alumni exemplary career counseling resources and career development services. The Center provides career counseling, coaching services, and career and professional development resources to engage students in the development of their career plans.
