Celebrating her first Whittier Homecoming, President Linda Oubré was on hand to meet with Poet alumni and family members, celebrate milestones, and cheer on the Purple and Gold.
Friday’s events included the Golden Anniversary Champagne Brunch celebrating the class of 1968, an Uptown Whittier foodie tour for Poet families, and the Purple and Gold Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Saturday’s Homecoming Festival was the highlight of the weekend where hundreds of alumni and family members gathered on the Upper Quad to enjoy music, food, games, and the company of fellow Poets.
Various athletic contests took place during Whittier Weekend including the football team’s match against the University of La Verne.
Whittier Weekend hosted nine class reunions, a Copenhagen reunion, a Choir reunion, and a celebration of the Whittier Scholars Program 40th anniversary.
The 47th Annual Tardeada—a celebration of Latino culture—also took place during the weekend and featured Mexican dance performances, spoken word, delicious food, and games.
