The event will feature a performance by renowned musicians, David Muller, professor of music, and Rose Chen to celebrate the release of their new CD, Mille Morte – Recital Pieces for Bassoon and Piano. The CD was recorded last year in the Chowdry recording studio located in music building and contains a variety of pieces composed in the late 20th century. The project is funded in part by a Whittier College Faculty Development grant.

Muller is a critically-acclaimed musician with a lifetime of experience. Throughout his eventful musical career, Muller has been principal bassoonist with a wide variety of orchestras, including the Mexico City Philharmonic, where he was a featured soloist, made 25 recordings, completed worldwide tours, and played in the world’s most famous concert halls. Muller is just as dedicated to teaching as he is to performing. He served a four-year term as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Whittier College, and continues to serve the college as a Professor of Music.
In 1997, Rose Chen moved to the United States from Taiwan, having already earned numerous awards for her achievements in piano. Rose's eclectic musical ventures range from earning a Doctorate of Musical Arts and playing piano on stages all over the world, to composing and recording music for short films, collaborating with techno artists, and creating modern choral arrangements of Taiwanese folk and popular songs.
