Alumna Takes Part in Security Summit in Nigeria

Erin Clancy, Class of 2007Alumna and U.S. Foreign Affairs Officer Erin Clancy ’07 traveled to Nigeria earlier this month as part of the U.S. delegation that took part of the second Regional Security Summit.

Deputy Secretary Antony Blinken led the U.S. delegation at the summit and delivered the U.S. national statement and later met with senior leaders to discuss efforts to support Nigeria and the other Lake Chad Basin countries in the fight against Boko Haram.

Named one of the 2015 Next Generation National Security Leaders by the Center for a New American Security, Clancy also was one of the featured speakers at Whittier College's Leadership Forum: Global Leaders in Service in 2014.

During her time at Whittier, Clancy was a member of the Thalian Society, Model United Nations, Black Student Union, Poet Democrats Club, as well as the Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Allies for Diversity.  After graduating Whittier as a political science major Clancy pursued her master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
