Tiny the Giraffe Set to Make Whittier College Permanent Home

Breadcrumb

Tiny the GiraffeTiny the Giraffe brought cheer and joy to Poets of all ages during his memorable appearance at Spring Fest Carnival hosted by the ASWC Program Board, an effect that did not go unnoticed by the College's administration and student leaders. As a result, new funds have been allocated to adopt Tiny and bring him to Whittier College permanently.

"Immediately after Tiny's visit we noticed a general sense of happiness spread across campus," said President Sharon Herzberger. "Having seen the baby giraffe myself, I knew what a positive effect he would have on our campus and began inquiring about his adoption and securing funds for it and his habitat."

ASWC President Tori Esquer '15 moved swiftly to allocate ASWC funds to the construction of Tiny's new pen and decide its location. "Of course, everyone wanted Tiny near their dorm but in the end, we decided the best place for Tiny to live was on the Upper Quad, where everyone could take a moment between classes to pet him, feed him, and walk away with positivity that would carry them through their next class," said Esquer.

Tiny's adoption is in the final phases. The College expects the process to be finalized in time for this year's Commencement Ceremony where Tiny will lead the procession.
