Spanish Professor Doreen O'Connor-Gomez and Adjunct Lecturer Mariano Zaro, gave a workshop at the 90th Annual American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in San José, Costa Rica in July. The workshop, entitled, "Thinking España: Borrando Fronteras/Thinking Spain: Erasing Frontiers" examined contemporary Spanish poets, born after the Franco regime, who address democracy in Spain, the rise of neo-fascism in an age of increased immigration, and the role of Spain in a global, multicultural world.
