Prior to Saturday’s game against Chapman University, seniors Alyssa Acosta and Alayna Rigo were recognized for achieving two milestones in their volleyball careers at Whittier College. This season, Acosta, a libero, achieved 1000 digs, while teammate and outside hitter Rigo garnered 1,000 kills.
Acosta has been a trailblazer during her four years at Whittier and accumulated her 1,000th career dig on September 14, against Clarkson University. Acosta currently has accumulated 1,386 digs. She has been named to the All-SCIAC All-Academic Team for the past three years and currently sits at No.2 in the SCIAC conference in digs per set.
Rigo, a fierce outside hitter has accumulated 1,243 kills during her four years at Whittier. She reached the landmark 1,000th kill on September 13 in a 3-1 victory over Whitman. She is currently ranked No.2 in single season kills. Her sophomore year she was named 1st Team All-SCIAC and for the past three seasons she has been named to the All-SCIAC All-Academic Team.
