During a three-day celebration of the Purple and Gold, hundreds of Poet alumni, students, family members, and guests were on campus for Whittier Weekend 2013.
During the yearly event, the College celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Quaker Campus (QC) student newspaper. The QC has chronicled the history of the College over the last 10 decades. In addition to a special dinner and reception, the College hosted an Anniversary Leadership Forum on “The Future of Journalism.” Forum participants included Josh du Lac ’93, enterprise reporter, Washington Post; Yasmin Khorram ’10, producer, HLN/CNN; Olivier Knox, chief Washington correspondent, Yahoo! News; and Gordon Robison, senior executive producer, Al Jazeera America. Whittier College Board Chair Don Herrema ’74 moderated the panel. Click here to watch the panel online.
Additional Whittier Weekend highlights included the Homecoming Tailgate and Football Game, College Choir Reunion, and the 42nd Annual Tardeada. Celebrants shared their experiences on Instagram and Twitter using #whittierweekend (read their posts on Storify).
