Tennessee William's American classic tells the story of the Wingfield family through the eyes of the play's protagonist Tom Wingfield. The Glass Menagerie brings to life Tom's memories and accounts of life with his mother Amanda and sister Laura. The story that Tom shares with the audience, touches on importance of memory, binaries between past and present, and accepting reality. Through striking visual images and dialogue, The Glass Menagerie paints a complex family portrait.
This production features an all student cast and is directed by Katie Liddicoat, Instructor of the Theater and Communication Arts department at Whittier College. Each year the theatre department produces up to four faculty directed productions in the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts. These productions afford students the opportunity to engage in theatre as a collaborative process.
