Over 70 Whittier College students participated in the 3rd Annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Arts (URSCA) Presentation Day. This year presenters represented more than a dozen majors and topics ranged from "The Use of Pre-Existing Classical Music in Contemporary Film" and "Gender Issues in Latin American Literature" to "The Politics of Memory, Money, and Identity: Global, National, and Gender Perspectives" and "Approaches to Social Issues."
During the conference, students were given the opportunity to present original work completed during Summer 2012 and the 2012-13 academic year. Presentations were given through various forms of media including: individual and poster presentations, creative arts explorations, and student panels.
This year's URSCA coincided with Whittier College's 8th Annual College and Community Expo organized by the Center for Engagement with Communities. The Expo celebration recognizes the hundreds of hours of service provided by Whittier College students to local community agencies. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about these projects via a student panel and poster presentations. Students and faculty were on hand to give greater detail about individual projects that included student-led initiatives, class projects, and work within established volunteer organizations.
