At last month’s Honors Convocation ceremony, he received an award for outstanding service to the department. Now, the psychology major and Psi Chi member hopes to build on his undergraduate experiences by earning his MFT, which is a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling.
“Becoming a peer mentor, I was able to gain skills in working with others,” said Alaniz, who grew up in Whittier. “And I liked that I was able to help others that are in the psych major get through one of their required courses.”
We asked Alaniz a few questions about his life as a Poet and plans for the future.
