Bio

Robert Mendez is an accomplished television industry attorney who has held senior level positions with global entertainment companies managing business affairs, legal affairs, contract administration, as well as serving as chief diversity officer.

Mr. Mendez most recently served as Senior Vice President, Diversity & Talent Development, Disney/ABC Television Group.

In his position, Mr. Mendez was responsible for advancing diversity strategies for various properties within the Disney/ABC Television Group, including, ABC Television Network, Disney Channels Worldwide, Disney XD and ABC Family, among others.

Previously, Mr. Mendez served as Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, for Disney/ABC Domestic Television for programs that included Live With Regis & Kelly and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Mendez served at Paramount Pictures Domestic Television, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President, Business Affairs, and was responsible for a number of highly successful and industry leading syndicated television properties, including, “Entertainment Tonight” and “Dr. Phil.” Prior to that, Mr. Mendez served as Senior Attorney for the National Broadcasting Company and as Deputy Attorney General with the California Department of Justice.

Long committed to employment diversity in the television industry and other business sectors, he is a past president of the Hispanic National Bar Association and has served on the boards of the International Radio and Television Society, the Imagen Foundation, the National Association of Multi-Ethnics in Communications and as a member of the FCC Subcommittee on Diversity in the Digital Age.  Presently, Mr. Mendez serves as a member of the board of trustees for San Antonio Regional Hospital and as a member of the LA County Fairplex Association.

Currently, Mr. Mendez serves as a Lecturer of Business Administration at Whittier College. His courses include Business & Society, Negotiation Strategies, Business Ethics and Business Law.
