Da'mon Perry headshotDa’mon Perry '12 was recently appointed associate director of athletics at Catlin Gabel, an independent preschool-12th grade institution in Portland, Oregon.

Throughout his career, Perry has worked as a coach, administrator, and educator at top schools on the West Coast, including Whittier College, University of Washington, Price School, Orange Lutheran High School, and Scholarship Prep Charter School. Most recently, he was at University Prep in Seattle, where he spent the past three years as assistant director of athletics and a middle school student advisor.

Perry is excited to join the staff at Catlin Gabel and aims to instill in his students the values of communication, teamwork, accountability, and self-awareness that he gained as a student-athlete himself.

"I think sports play a really big role in instilling life lessons that students can use for the rest of their lives. So many of the things that I've learned or things that I've built came from when I started playing sports," added Perry in a school press release

Perry has a bachelor's degree in Sports Recreation and Management from Whittier College and a master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership. At Whittier, Perry was a member of the basketball team and wanted to continue his involvement in athletics in a professional setting.

"I wanted to be involved in sports after playing, but I didn't know what it would look like. I knew that sports management would give me access to different careers within sports and help me to figure out what I enjoyed the most," said Perry. "The admin side of sports was what I was drawn to the most throughout all my experiences."
