Her passion for higher education was ignited through the many extracurricular activities she participated in during her time at Whittier. Throughout her college years, Boynton served as an ASWC Senator; was writer and editor for the Quaker Campus; and was a member of three honor societies. She was also involved in the dance team and the choir, and worked as a student ambassador for the admissions office, first-year peer mentor, writing associate, and CAAS academic coach.
It is because of her involvement on campus that Boynton says she learned “what it means to be a Poet— to be a member of a supportive community that thrives on diversity, inclusion, and helping one another.” Boynton’s career goal is to ultimately become a dean of students at a small liberal arts college, potentially a Minority-Serving Institution like Whittier College.
Whittier helped prepared her for the future. “Whittier College has allowed me to grow and find my own voice,” she said. “It has prepared me to communicate effectively, make connections across disciplines, see the perspectives of others and be a globalized thinker. These skills will be essential to my future as an educator, and have prepared me to be the inclusive and caring professional that I dream of being.”
