The Whittier College Board of Trustees was honored by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) with the 2016 John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership at the 2017 AGB National Conference on Trusteeship. Whittier was one of five member boards to receive the recognition.
According to the AGB website, the award is presented to governing boards demonstrating exceptional leadership and initiative in the past year. More than 70 nominations were submitted for this award from both public and private institutions, statewide systems, and institutionally related foundations. The Whittier College Board of Trustees was the only honoree from the state of California.
