The Fuller House and Full House star documented her experience in a video blog for her YouTube channel. “I was born and raised in Whittier and went to school here from kindergarten all the way to Whittier College,” she said during her remarks.

This is Barber’s second time participating in the parade. She was also the celebrity grand marshal in 1993.

Barber has been keeping busy making several media appearances as the fourth season of Fuller House is set to premiere on December 14. She appeared on NBC’s Today Show where she reflects on the evolution of her character, Kimmy Gibbler, and said how thankful she is for fans of the show.

As the quirky friend and neighbor, the character was known for her eccentric personality.  “I actually hear this from a lot of people, that Kimmy, as a teenager, taught other teenagers that it’s okay to be weird,” she said during a video segment on the show.

Barber received a B.A. in English from Whittier and an MA in women’s studies from the University of York, in England. She stepped away from her career in entertainment for several years until 2016 when Netflix revived the popular television series.

Barber’s next project includes writing a book about her life.
