“I am confident Coach Hamlet will continue [Whittier’s] tradition of excellence, as his personal and professional coaching expectations are extremely high," said Executive Director of Athletics Robert Coleman.
Prior to Whittier, Hamlet was at the University of Maryland Aquatic Club for four years coaching national qualifiers. He also coached a member of the Trinidad and Tobago National Team, an athlete who competed in the 2015 Deaf World Championships, and a swimmer who went on to win conference titles at Salisbury University.
Hamlet had a significant impact at his alma mater, Pacific University where he graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. At Pacific, he helped coach national qualifiers, the 2012 Northwest Conference Swimmer of the Year, a NWC Conference record holder, and many provisional national qualifiers. While there, he also assisted special needs children for the Multnomah County Educational Service District.
