Whittier College social work students traveled to Sacramento in early April to participate in the 2014 Legislative Lobby Days, a two-day event that educates approximately 1000 students and professionals about important legislation affecting clients and the social work profession.
“Lobby Days was an enlightening experience for my social work career,” said social work major Arianna Medina '16 who participated in a full-day briefing on relevant legislative matters. “Attendees [had a chance to] practice social work advocacy skills learned throughout the day, by visiting the State Capital the next day and meeting with Legislators to educate them on these important policy issues.”
Legislative Lobby Days is sponsored by California chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
