The California Community College Advantage (CCC Advantage) gives transfer students a clear path to bachelor’s degree from Whittier, with affordability in mind. Students at any of the 116 community colleges in the state of California can qualify for guaranteed admission to Whittier and, with few exceptions, placement into the major of their choice.
“The state of California is home to the nation’s best community college system, and we welcome the opportunity to have some of their students continue the pursuit of their bachelor degree with us,” said Falone Serna, vice president for enrollment management. “Many of these students consider private institutions to be inaccessible. The CCC Advantage works to provide a clear pathway for them to transfer to Whittier College at a more affordable price.”
Whittier understands the rising concerns about the cost of a higher education and is working to make a bachelor’s degree more affordable. To this end, students who qualify to transfer through CCC Advantage will pay a special annual tuition of $28,000 a year, and students with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better will earn a $5,000 John Greenleaf Whittier Transfer Scholarship. In addition, all admitted students who submit a FAFSA to Whittier by the application deadline will be considered for a financial need-based Whittier Grant—an award of up to $7,000.
Whittier’s commitment to students’ path to graduation does not end when they are admitted. After students submit their enrollment deposit, they will receive individual academic advising from a Whittier professor to help them choose the right classes and determine their best path towards their degree.
Plus, students who have earned their Associate Degree for Transfer will be guaranteed a minimum of 60 transferrable semester units and junior-class standing, if they meet certain academic criteria.
