Masanori Murakami, the first Japanese baseball player to pitch in the American Major Leagues for the San Francisco Giants more than 50 years ago, is on a nationwide book tour this summer. Accompanied by urban archaeologist, Robert Fitts who is the author of “Mashi: The Unfulfilled Baseball Dreams of Masanori Murakami, the First Japanese Major Leaguer,” Murakami will be in the Los Angeles area July 6-7.
One of the stops of Murakami's book tour will be on Whittier College's campus on July 7. This event is made possible by the College's Institute for Baseball studies and is open to the public.
