In honor of their 100th season, the Poet men’s basketball team hosted 100 Poet alumni back on campus to be part of the Centennial Celebration held at the Graham Athletics Center (GAC) on February 13. As part of the activities, fellow Poets and former teammates took part in a special luncheon where they reminisced about their time with the basketball team and shared stories with new and old friends.
After the luncheon, alumni joined fans in the GAC stands to cheer on the Poets as they led to a victory over the Cal Tech Beavers 94-76. With this triumph the Poets earned a second place position by a game in the SCIAC standings.
Over the last 100 years of Poet men's basketball, 42 players and five teams have been inducted into the Purple and Gold Hall of Fame for their outstanding athletic achievements on the basketball court. The program has won 30 league championships which are commemorated with banners hung in the Graham Athletic Center.
