Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, awarded Whittier College with the prestigious El Premio Octavio Paz, an honor recognizing chapters that maintain an outstanding record of activity and service for three consecutive years. Whittier’s Upsilon Pi was one of eight collegiate chapters to receive the award this year, out of more than 500 chapters nationwide; Doreen O’Connor-Gomez, associate professor of Spanish and Upsilon Pi advisor, accepted the award on behalf of the College at the organization’s convention in San Diego.
