Whittier College is welcoming hundreds of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and families to the annual Whittier Weekend and Homecoming festivities on October 21-23.
The weekend features a plethora of activities, ranging from social to athletic to cultural. Campus tours will take place along with the Homecoming Festival, the State of the College Address, and the Parade of Poet Athletes, among a weekend full of other great events and activities. Shuttles will be available to take people from College Hall, Campus Center, and Mendenhall, and will run every 15 minutes. On-campus dining will be available for everyone at the campus center and The Spot. Check online for times to plan ahead.

Thursday, October 20
5:30 - 9 p.m. - Purple & Gold Hall of Fame Ceremony & Dinner (Holiday Inn Hotel La Mirada) Join us as we recognize the very best of Whittier College Athletics. For details, contact Mike Rizzo ‘86 at mrizzo@whittier.edu or (562) 907-4967. $65 per person.
7:30 p.m. - “The Good Person of Setzuan” by Bertolt Brecht (Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts) Directed by Professor of Theatre Arts Jennifer Holmes. Be sure to check this student production, running from Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. For tickets and information, go to ShannonCenter.org.
Friday, October 21
1-2 p.m. - Poet Pumpkin Patch (Lower Quad @ the Rock) Win prizes, participate in a pumpkin-carving challenge, and enjoy delicious desserts which will be sponsored by Bon Appétit.
3-6 p.m. - Poet Party Zone (Radisson Hotel Whittier) Stop by and join the fun! After you check into your room, swing by the party zone with other alumni and get your Poet Swag Bag to start your weekend.
7-9 p.m. - Dub-Sync (Harris Amphitheater) Remember Spring Sing? Don’t miss this opportunity to see societies and other student organizations lip sync to popular music.
Saturday, October 22
9-10 a.m. - Insider’s Tour and Rooftop Mimosas (Science & Learning Center, 2nd Floor Lobby) Join President Herzberger and take in the spectacular views when you tour the newly opened Science & Learning Center.
12-4:30 p.m. - Annual Homecoming Poet Festival (Memorial Baseball Center) Featuring the All-Society Mixer, Reunion Central, Faithful Friends Craft Beer Garden, Poet Food Fest, and live music entertainment, $5 per plate.
1 p.m. - Men’s Water Polo Alumni Game (Slade Aquatic Center)
4:30 p.m. Parade of Poet Athletes (Memorial Baseball Field) Annual parade honoring alumni and student athletes starts at the Festival and finishes with an energetic tunnel to rally the football team’s entrance to the field. First 50 attendees will receive a gift. Line-up takes place at the Festival.
5 p.m. Homecoming Football Game: Poets v. Pomona-Pitzer (Memorial Stadium) Pay at the gate.
Sunday, October 23
4-6 p.m. 45th Annual Tardeada (Campus Center Courtyard) Delicious food, music, traditional folkloric dances, and much more for all to enjoy! Join us in this long-standing tradition as we remember, honor, and celebrate the legacy of Martin Ortiz ’48. Pay at the door.
