Family-friendly gathering celebrates the school’s history and its continued commitment to excellence in early childhood education.

Students at Broadoaks playgroundBroadoaks School of Whittier College will celebrate its 120th anniversary with a special community event called “120 Years of Lighting the Way: Honoring the Past and Inspiring the Future,” scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from noon to 4 p.m. on the Broadoaks campus.

The family-friendly gathering celebrates the school’s history and its continued commitment to excellence in early childhood education.

“Broadoaks has always been rooted in community,” said Nicole Baitx-Kennedy, M.Ed., executive director. “Marking this milestone is a way to bring together the families, alumni, and partners who have been part of the school’s story for 120 years, and introduce ourselves to folks who aren’t yet familiar with the school. We look forward to welcoming our friends and neighbors to campus.”

Serving children in preschool, transitional kindergarten, and kindergarten, Broadoaks is a demonstration laboratory school that models educational innovation and fosters a dynamic community of motivated learners and educators. The school emphasizes strong relationships that create transformative educational experiences through exploration and collaboration, equipping students with the skills needed to navigate the world around them and kindle a passion for lifelong learning. Teacher reading to students

The celebration coincides with Whittier College’s Admitted Students’ Day, giving prospective families the chance to experience the Broadoaks campus community and the school’s longstanding connection to the College.

The Broadoaks 120th anniversary community celebration is free and open to the public.
