For the first time in Whittier College's history, Poet Athletics earned three conference championships in one season adding to a total of 79 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships for the College. The men's and women's water polo teams dominated the pool in the 2014-2015 season and brought home conference trophies this spring. The third SCIAC championship of the year for Whittier College came from the softball team led by Head Coach Dee Dee Kingsbury.
The honors for the Poets didn't stop there as Head Water Polo Coach Justin Pudwill was named ACWPC Division III Coach of the Year by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches and Head Softball Coach Dee Dee Kingsbury was recognized as SCIAC Coach of the Year in her inaugural season.
The SCIAC trophies were received by Executive Director of Whittier College Athletics Rob Coleman at the SCIAC Banquet on May 26. The trophies will be on display in the offices of Coach Pudwill and Coach Kingsbury respectively.
