Carey (Baker) Halio '95 has been promoted to partner at Goldman Sachs, continuing her successful career in the financial industry.
Halio was among 83 others promoted to the position at the global company, a list that includes the largest percentage of women, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
"The ascent to the Goldman Sachs partnership is considered one of Wall Street’s highest honors, opening doors to an exclusive club of financiers," according to the Times.
Halio, who was a business administration major, received a solid foundation for her current profession thanks to Whittier College's multidisciplinary approach.
“Whittier taught me how to analyze all sorts of problems from all sorts of perspectives and so much of what I do now is problem solving at its core,” Halio explained in an earlier edition of The Rock.
As a student, Halio became adept at juggling her schoolwork, off-campus jobs, and extra-curricular activities. On campus, she was a tutor and a member of the Athenian Society.
After graduating, Halio earned an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2000. She is a current member of the Whittier College Board of Trustees and serves on the audit and finance committees.
