The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education has recognized Whittier College as among the best in the Los Angeles area.
The ranking, publicized Tuesday, places Whittier ninth on the list comprised of public and private institutions. The rankings weigh student outcomes, school resources, how well the institution engages its students, and its learning environment or diversity, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The placement adds to the College's growing list of distinctions. Earlier this year, Whittier outperformed larger Southern California schools like California Lutheran University and the University of San Diego in the independent publication College Choice's rankings.
Washington Monthly also ranked Whittier in its top 100 list of liberal arts colleges, and The Princeton Review featured the College as one of the best 381 colleges and universities in the 2017 edition of the flagship college guide.
Also, the recently released 2017 U.S. News and World Report ranked the College #11 in the nation for its ethnic diversity, citing that at least 43% of our student body hails from an underrepresented group.
