Alumnus Leads Israel's Lacrosse Team

Seth Mahler, Whittier College Alumnus, Israel LacrosseAlumnus Seth Mahler ‘10 was recently named the head coach for Israel's Under 19 lacrosse team. Under his leadership, the team will be competing in the 2016 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s Under 19 World Lacrosse Championship in Coquitlam, British Columbia next July. This will be the first year ever that the country will be represented in the quadrennial U 19 World Championships and the young team shows great potential.

Mahler, a former midfielder for the Poets lacrosse team,  graduated from the College in 2010 with a B.A. in business administration. Mahler first fell in love with lacrosse when he first began playing in the 7th grade in his home town of Waterbury, Connecticut.  

In 2013, Mahler decided to move to Ashkelon, Israel and earned a position as program director for the Israel Lacrosse Association. While working there, he developed one of the first high-level youth lacrosse programs in the area, Ashkelon LC, and aimed to spread his love of lacrosse throughout the country.Mahler tried out and earned a spot on the 2014 Israel Men’s National Team which competed in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships that year.
