Dozens of events planned for a weekend intended to “Catch that Poet Spirit”
Whittier College is set to welcome hundreds of Poet alumni, faculty, staff, families, and students to campus to celebrate Whittier Weekend on October 23-25. The Whittier community will take part in a myriad of social, athletic, and cultural events including the annual Homecoming Festival, campus tours, State of the College Address, and the 44th Annual Tardeada.
In addition, selected alumni members will be recognized this year for their outstanding service, commitment, and loyalty to the College during the 2015 Poet Awards Reception and Dinner.

Friday, October 23
- Noon-12:30 p.m. – President’s State of the College at Arnold Hall – Join the Whittier College community as President Sharon Herzberger delivers her annual State of the College address, highlighting Whittier’s role as a model for the nation in higher education.
- 12:30–1 p.m. – Poet Musicale at Arnold Hall – Come enjoy a showcase featuring the outstanding musical talents of Whittier students presented by the Music Department.
- 2 – 3 p.m. – Campus Tour - Enjoy a guided walking tour of the Whittier College campus visiting new and familiar sites. The group meets at The Rock.
Saturday, October 24
- 9 – 10 a.m. – Walk and Talk with President Herzberger - Put on comfortable shoes and take a stroll with President Herzberger in one of her signature walks through Whittier’s beautiful historic campus. The group meets at The Rock.
- 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. – Annual Homecoming Poet Festival at Memorial Stadium –There is something for everyone, adults and kids alike: class photos, Poet Spirit Station, live entertainment, games, food truck, face painting, and more!
- 5 p.m. – Homecoming Football Game at Memorial Stadium - The Poet football team takes on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. Cost: $5
Sunday, October 25
- 4 – 6 p.m. – 44th Annual Tardeada: One of Whittier College’s signature events, Tardeada will feature Latin American dance, music, and cuisine. The event will take place at Whittier College’s Campus Center Courtyard, located at 7214 Painter Avenue, Whittier, CA. Cost: $12 at the door.
