The Yao Yuan Sze Foundation of Bellevue, WA, recently raised its total Science & Learning Center commitment to $1 million. The foundation’s total gift of $2.5 million will establish the Yao Yuan Sze Center for Health & Wellness at the College. This gift will support two important spaces within the SLC: the movement lab and the nutrition science health lab. The gift will also create an endowed chair inand nutrition science, provide program support to fund research opportunity for students, and purchase equipment.
Before his death in 2013, Yao Yuan Sze—a successful businessman, aerospace engineer, and philanthropist—came to appreciate this College and its positive impact on students. He wished to support Whittier’s work in providing transformative education in the areas of health and science.
