Chemistry Professor Devin Iimoto's softball team was named D Division North American Champions in the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association (NAGAAA) Softball World Series last month. His team, the Los Angeles Swingers, bested a 62 team-bracket to secure the championship.
NAGAAA is an athletic organization that serves to bring together the LGBT community through softball competitions across the United States and Canada. Created in 1977, the organization has grown to more than 800 teams in 45 leagues. The mission of NAGAAA is to promote athletic competition and physical health in support of the gay lifestyle, while providing opportunities for LGBT individuals to travel and meet new friends. The athletic organization is also committed to helping the LGBT community through fundraising activities at the games, supporting AIDS organizations and other charities.
