Breadcrumb

The Culture of Child Care, Kay Sanders book, Oxford PressProfessor of Education and Child Development Kay Sanders recently co-authored the book The Culture of Child Care where she presents a theory that integrates cultural practices of children, families, and teachers with definitions of child care quality and children's experiences in child care. The book was published by Oxford University Press.

In addition, Sanders and her co-author Allison Wishard Guerra, associate professor of education studies at the University of California, San Diego discuss a new approach to thinking about quality in early education, especially for ethnic minority and low-income communities.

This volume will serve as a resource for a wide range of early childhood professionals including basic and applied developmental researchers, early childhood educators and advocates, and policymakers.

Sanders teaches the undergraduate series of courses in Whittier College's department of education and child development. Sanders' research examines how racial/ethnic socialization in community child care programs contributes to child care quality, relationships, and children’s social and emotional school readiness skills.
