More than 100 Poet athletes were recognized for their success in the classroom at the 10th Annual President’s Club luncheon. Whittier College President Sharon Herzberger and Executive Director of Athletics Robert Coleman acknowledged 130 athletes who earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.5 or higher during the academic year.
“We are extremely proud of the extraordinary and continued academic performance of our student athletes,” said Coleman. “In particular, I applaud the individuals who continue to excel in the classroom and on the playing field. These outstanding combined results remain a by-product of the diligent efforts of the fine young men and women in our program, as well as the daily contributions of our coaches, Center for Advising and Academic Success and Whittier’s quality faculty members," said Coleman.
This year's luncheon speaker was Orthogonian and former member of the College's baseball team, Fred Anderson ’66. Anderson currently serves as the managing director and co-founder of Elevation Partners and was the vice president and chief financial officer at Apple where he made major contributions to the company's turnaround and re-emergence as an industry leader.
