Tu Minh Truong wanted to see more of the world.
The first-year biology student was looking to leave his home country of Vietnam to earn a college degree in the United States. Whittier College became just the right fit, offering the private education he was looking for with a student body full of many other international students like himself.
Students from more than 20 foreign countries attend Whittier, with young men and women from every continent (minus Antarctica) on the Southern California campus.
"Students here are very friendly," he said.
The close-knit community that Truong found at Whittier extends to his classroom experience, as well. He's enjoying the access he has to his professors in a class of 11—sometimes, up to 20—students. His math class in particular is a favorite, right now.
