Whittier College has many spots on campus to study, enjoy a snack break, or just relax.

There are three spots that I frequent the most, but my favorite is the second floor of Wardman Library that is known as the quiet floor. I like to hang out there when I need to minimize my distractions while trying to study.

I really like this space because there is a lot of seating so you don’t have to worry about not being able to find somewhere to sit. There are also individual study sections that give you privacy; this is usually where I sit. Each desk also has power outlets to easily charge any devices, and a small desk lamp if you need more light.

The second floor of Wardman Library also has study rooms which I have used plenty of times since I’ve been at Whittier College. This space is good for small group work sessions.

There are whiteboards in every room so you can brainstorm, and there are dry erase markers and erasers available for checkout at the front desk.

Another spot I like to hang out at on campus is on the fifth floor patio of the Science and Learning Center (SLC).

View of downtown Los Angeles

It’s not necessarily a study area, but I come here a lot between classes that are in the SLC. There is usually a table or two with chairs or a bench to sit at. I like to hangout here when the weather is nice, and when the air is clear there are really nice views of Downtown Los Angeles and even the Hollywood Sign. I like this spot for just relaxing or a quick snack while I enjoy the city views.

There are many spots to hang out at on campus, and every student has their own preference. I either opt for the quiet library space or the patio with city views. They all have their strengths, and I encourage you to find one that works for you.
