Whittier awards all high school seniors enrolled in an accredited public, charter, or private school within Los Angeles and Orange Counties a $2,000 scholarship.
Transfer students enrolled at a community college in Los Angeles or Orange County will also receive a Gateway Scholarship of $2,000.
The Gateway Scholarship is renewable for the entirety of a student's enrollment at Whittier College and can be used to cover the cost of tuition and fees. The scholarship is awarded in addition to a student's earned merit scholarship, which is based on a student's GPA. The Gateway Scholarship is awarded regardless of a student's household income. No additional application is required for the scholarship - students are automatically considered based on the location of the most recent high school or community college listed in their admission application and official transcript.
There is no additional application required for the Gateway Scholarship. All students who apply to Whittier College automatically qualify for the Gateway Scholarship if they attend school in Los Angeles or Orange County.
