Honor Society

Breadcrumb

Whittier operates local chapters of national honorary academic and leadership societies.

Members of these organizations are selected based on criteria such as grade point average, and, in general, exhibit a keen dedication to scholarship, service, and leadership.

Sigma Pi Sigma

Sigma Pi Sigma is a prestigious national honor society for students of physics. Whittier College established a chapter in 1996, and has inducted more than 60 honorees. Sigma Pi Sigma exists to "honor outstanding scholarship in physics; to encourage interest in physics among students at all levels; to promote an attitude of service of its members towards their fellow students, colleagues, and the public; to provide a fellowship of persons who have excelled in physics."
