Whittier College’s 2025 Homecoming Weekend, held Oct. 10-12, brought together Poets spanning the generations for a spirited celebration of tradition and community. From the debut of the Uptown Poet Pub Crawl to the beloved Musicale, this year’s festivities reflected an enduring pride and evolving energy.
Friday launched the weekend with campus tours, a class on J.R.R. Tolkien, a lively lunch at the Campus Inn, and the annual Poet Musicale, where alumni voices joined those of current students in singing the school song, “Friends Forever.” Wardman Library featured a curated Homecoming exhibit, and an alumni panel on the entertainment industry drew a crowd. That evening, the State of the College address and Poet Awards celebrated Whittier’s momentum and its standout alumni.
Saturday was full of action, starting with a men’s basketball game and a men’s water polo showdown at Graham Athletic Center. Poet Fest on the Upper Quad offered food trucks, family fun, and alumni meetups. Coaches — including Cory White MA ’06 and Todd Francis — gave a special Athletics talk, and the parade of Poet athletes led guests to a pink-out women’s volleyball match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and more sports. Sunday’s farewell brunch capped the weekend, leaving attendees recharged and proud.
“It’s heartwarming to see generations of Poets reconnect and share how Whittier shaped their lives,” said Director of Alumni Relations Ana Gutierrez ’96. “That bond doesn’t fade; it just grows stronger with time.”
