Men’s Basketball
Kenyatta Louder ‘20 was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the 7th week of play, Conner Longmire ‘19 was also awarded that title and later in the season, Nick Potthoff ‘20 was too.
Women’s Basketball
Cali Cubel '20 was selected team co-captain for 2019-20 season. It will be her second year holding the post. Cubel was named All-SCIAC during the 2018-19 season. Cubel’s co-captains are Teani White '21 and Daisy Cardenas '21.
Spring Sports
Baseball
Dane Goodman ’22 received recognition as SCIAC Hitter of the Week.
Softball
Jannelle Ha ‘21 received recognition as SCIAC Pitcher of the Week and Brittany Attaway ‘20 received recognition as the Division III Player of the Week by the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Men’s Golf
Poet Men's Golf team members Nicholas Medeiros ‘18 won the Jesse Clark Sportsmanship Award.
Women’s Golf
Taylor Beckwith ‘20 was named All-West Region by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. Beckwith also received an honorable mention recognition and the Bulldog Invitational title awarded from S Club at Rancho Mirage.
Men’s Lacrosse
Ronan Dooney ‘22 was selected by Inside Lacrosse as a top freshmen within Division III.
Women’s Lacrosse
Lexie Meanor ’19 was recognized as a “Player to Watch” by the IWLCA Division III Digest and named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Women’s Tennis
Kallysta Lopez ’21 was recognized as SCIAC Athlete of the Week in the fifth week of the season.
Track and Field
Gabriella Torres Joubert ‘22 received recognition for the first time as SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week. Garrett Silva ‘21 was named Athlete of the Week twice and in the sixth week was named Field Athlete. Hakim Williams Jr. ’21, Sabrina Van Beek ’21, Anahy Covarrubias ‘19 and Elyse Espe ’21 were each recognized as SCIAC Athletes of the Week.
Women’s Water Polo
Sawyer Bellville ‘21 and Teresa Marchetti ’22 were named to the All-SCIAC firt team and Anastacia Gonzalez ’19 received accolades on the second team.
Seven Poets, including Bellville, Gonzalez, Marchetti, Jacqueline Au ’21, Amelia Gregorio ’21, Marina Daroca Bazan ’19, and Lauren Mauge ’21, were named to the 2019 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team.
FALL 2019
Football
The Purple & Gold saw three players earn All-SCIAC accolades led wide receiver Moises Gonzalez ’22 who was named 1st Team All-SCIAC. Hakim Williams Jr. ’21 and Oscar Aliaga ’22 were selected to the 2nd Team All-SCIAC. Aliaga was also named to the d3football.com Team of the Week. Miguel Avina ’21 was named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week and Sam Aseh ’23 was named the SCIAC Specialist of the Week for the first time in his career.
Men’s Soccer
Poets Teddy Nickerson ’22, Hayden Barnouw ’22, RayRay Roberson ’20, and Banks Telkamp ’23 where named to the All-SCIAC first team. Daniel Hayes and Matteo Loi received second team honors. In addition, Nickerson was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week and Telkamp was named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Women’s Soccer
Vanessa Martinez ’22 was named to the All-SCIAC second team for the second year in her Poet career. In addition, Martinez and teammate Samantha Pearson ’22 were both recognized as a SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week during the season.
Volleyball
Katelyn Popoff ’22 was named to the All-SCIAC second team, proving to be one of SCIAC's top outside hitters. Earlier in the season she was named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Men’s Water Polo
Water polo attacker Dominick Nevarez ’20 was named SCIAC Athlete of the Year and Associated Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Player of the Year for Division III. Nevarez and Murat Ersoz ’20 were both named to All-SCIAC first team and Hans Zdolsek ’21 and Eric Borunda ’22 were recognized on the second team. Ersoz was recognized as SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week twice during the season and teammate Dylan Woodhouse ’21 was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Six players were named to the ACWPC All-American Teams, the most in any season. Ersoz, Nevarez, and Zdolsek were all named to the first team, Borunda to the second team, and Micah Kamai ’23 and Carlos Heredia Viteri ’21 received honorable mention.
