The Whittier College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have once again earned distinction as Spring Team Scholar All-America, joining 763 teams from 432 institutions to make Scholar All-America Teams for the spring 2025 semester. These teams, comprising 18,459 student-athletes, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
To qualify, teams needed to maintain a collective grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher during the spring 2025 semester. The Whittier women’s team successfully earned an average GPA of 3.79, putting them third among Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools, just 0.9 points behind the highest women’s team GPA in Division III. That distinction went to both Colorado College and Vassar College.
The Whittier men made the list with a collective 3.30 GPA during the spring semester. With the roster set to increase by a significant margin for the 2025-26 campaign, Head Coach Michael Jafari’s Poets are poised to continue meeting this academic bar in the semesters to come.
Samantha Barany, executive director of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA), praised the honorees. “These teams exemplify what it means to be true studentathletes,” she said. “Their dedication to academic excellence, alongside their athletic commitments, is both impressive and inspiring. The CSCAA is proud to recognize and celebrate their hard work and achievements.”
