ADD: William Shakespeare brings you a comedy filled with the spectacle of clowns, friendship, a love triangle, betrayal, escape, pursuit, capture, forgiveness, reconciliation...and a dog. Senior Nathan Gurr and freshman Clancy Nelson as Valentine and Proteus, respectively, play the title "gentlemen," whose attempts at love are complicated when they travel abroad. Through their struggles to understand women, and each other, they discover the true meaning of friendship, and love. Junior Carrie Weiner plays Julia, and sophomore Lauren Tyers plays Sylvia, the objects of Velentine and Proteus' love. Comedy abounds in the clown characters of Launce, played by sophomore Curt Munsey and Speed, played by junior Dave Hanson.
One of Shakespeare's best loved comedies, this production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona is directed by Jack DeVries, associate professor of the Whittier College Theater Department.
