Classical Pianist to Perform at Whittier College

 

WHAT:                        Wang Xiaohan, finalist in the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, in concert.

 

WHEN:                        8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19

 

WHERE:                      The Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts at Whittier
                             College

                             (At the corner of Philadelphia St. and Painter Ave.)

 

COST:                         $15 for the general public; $12 for students and senior citizens with ID.

 

ADD:                           At the age of 10, Wang Xiaohan entered the pre-college division
of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Just 10 short years later, he has won several regional and national competitions in China and took third prize in his first international competition in Munich, Germany,
in 1997.  He has performed throughout China, both as a soloist
with orchestras and in recital, and he has performed in concert
with the Israel Chamber Orchestra in Tel Aviv.  Now living in
Hanover, Germany, Wang studies with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule for Musik and Theater.  He is also a composer who enjoys performing
his own works.
