ADD: John Peace is no stranger to Whittier College. In his 13th appearance, he brings the sounds of crooners, swooners and be-boppers of the 1940s and ’50s to life in vocalist Mike Hudson. John Peace formed his first big band in 1951 and the young teenage band was quickly hired to back Jim Hawthorne on a weekly live comedy show on channel 5 in Los Angeles. In the mid-1950s Peace conducted many musical groups, from quartets to full swing bands. In addition, he has played saxophone, clarinet and flute with many name bands, including Harry James, Charlie Barnett, Billy Eckstine, Billy May, Ray Anthony, Sy Zentner and many others. Peace recently returned from a nine-week tour of Australia and New Zealand with the production of Live from Las Vegas: A Tribute to the Rat Pack.
