New Vice President for Enrollment Named at Whittier College
Following a seven-month national search, Lisa Meyer, currently Associate Vice President for Institutional Image at the University of La Verne, has been appointed Vice President for Enrollment at Whittier College. She will oversee recruiting efforts for Whittier’s undergraduate campus.
Meyer previously served as the Dean of Admissions at La Verne. Prior to her six years working at La Verne, she served in various enrollment-related capacities at The Webb Schools, Pitzer College, and Pacific University, as well as working in fund raising at Scripps College.
“Lisa was among a group of extraordinary finalists for the position,” said Whittier College President Katherine Haley Will. “In the final analysis, it was important that we select someone who not only demonstrated excellence in the profession and commanded the respect of peers, but who could envision and deliver to Whittier strategies that could take an already good program to the next level. We are confident Lisa is the person to do this.”
“Whittier College has a long tradition of providing exceptional educational opportunities to its students,” Meyer said. “I am honored with this opportunity to match potential students with the outstanding resources offered at Whittier College, and in this small way, to assist in the education of our future leaders and visionaries.” She is working with Whittier and La Verne on the appropriate timing for her transition to her new position. She resides in Claremont with her husband, Darren Ferris, and their son, Austin.
Will, who recently announced she will be leaving Whittier to become President of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, said “It is an extraordinary statement about Whittier College that we could recruit someone of Lisa’s caliber during a time of presidential transition. Whittier College is recognized nationally for providing an excellent liberal arts education. That distinction attracts students, as well as faculty and staff who, like Lisa, choose to work here.”
Located 18 miles east of Los Angeles, Whittier College is an independent, four-year college offering traditional liberal arts majors and strong pre-professional programs taught in the context of the liberal arts. Whittier Law School, which is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools, is located on a separate campus in Costa Mesa.
